Today I put on the cantilever brakes. Cantilever brakes use a U wire formation to compress the brake pads equally. A challenge was ensuring this formation was in the right position and taught enough to allow for a hard and quick brake. After a couple trial and errors with the positioning and calibration, I successfully installed them to my liking.
Understanding the nuances of the braking system and switching the stem to explore different ergonomics of the handling of the bike has been useful in learning how I ride. I hope to take this experience and apply it to other simple technologies in the future.
